In a time when things are not at their best economically and quite uncertain, it was really nice for Hot Rock's work to provide a fun-filled day for the family. We haven't seen Hot Rocks that much lately because of work and school; it was a much needed time of relaxing fun with the kids.
We walked into the area and we were immediately torn as to where to start. There were go-karts for those that were 16 and over, bumper cars for the wee ones, games with prized to be won, music, raffles, face-painting, rock climbing, mechanical bull-riding and a bunch of inflatable "rides". Oh, how could I forget the catered lunch!!!!
The younger girls walked in and Mem was "all about" the paddle boats. I had never seen anything like this! It was like a huge rectangular wading pool and the kids work the paddles with their hands in a turning motion. Miss M.,. wasn't to sure about it and stood back on the sidelines with me for what seemed like a long time.... but really was only a couple of minutes. She watched Mem jump in to a boat like it was second nature....
I know she was thinking about getting in one of those boats the whole time she was standing beside me...would she be the daredevil that I know lives deep within her? Would she succumb to Mem being the only one out there having fun? Would she take the risk of falling into 8 inches of water AND surviving??? YOU BET!!! I knew she could do it - she just needed to hear her friend yell, "M..c'mon! It's fun" with a smile. Now look at her - she isn't Miss M anymore - she is Miss ADVENTURE!
Y'all know what happened next right? Nope, the girls didn't fall in, but the BOYS couldn't let the girls have ALL the fun!
Sis was a little to old for the boats so she decided to check out the face painting across the way. This station was handled by three amazing women all day! I wish I would of taken pictures of all of their work - it was scattered everywhere. They painted on faces, arms, backs and the paintings were beautiful! Such talent!
I loved to look at their tools ~ this shows only a small part of what the lady that painted Sis' face had...
Sis just sat there patiently....
while one of the face-painter's masterpieces was in the works and with an ever so careful hand....VIOLA!

Once Mem saw what Sis had, she had to have it too! She plopped herself on the chair that belonged to the same lady that had done Sis' face and told her exactly what she wanted.
In turn, she sat patiently.....
while the face-painter carefully placed each stroke and dot....

and Viola! another masterpiece!

So where does that leave Miss M? Kind of in the same situation she was in before with the paddle boats. Miss M told Mem that she didn't want to have her face painted and that was that. Again, it only took a couple of minutes and as Miss M looked at Mem's face she wanted to have the SAME thing. I was cracking up! So, Little Miss M jumped up on the chair of a different lady and told her just what she wanted. The face-painter asked if she wanted it all over her face and she sure did!
Little Miss M sat there patiently, not making a move....
She kept her eyes closed and still didn't move....
Soon enough, the final strokes of beauty had rested upon her lovely little face and VIOLA!

Only later, when I dropped Miss M off at home, did I find out that she had never had her face painted and never before wanted to have it done! She NEVER ceases to amaze me with her bravery!
It was a beautiful start to a lovely day together!
