Sometimes, somethings just take a little longer than you expect but they can still be completed. Take for example the following project.
I started this over a month ago with the girls from Horse Class. I knew what I wanted to do, but I wasn't able to finish it in class as they had done. It sat there in the shack...crying out to be completed. Waiting patiently for me to finish it. I needed time though - it needed to have some thought put into it. I wanted it to be special for Mem. I was going to give it to her for her birthday.
I had drawn a simple sketch of a horse's head (6 times - one for each of the girls in class).
Next, I cut out the different areas. Each cutting/piece would represent a different color/design of paper.
I painted the canvas before I Modge Podged the pieces on.
After the canvas was dry, the pieces were layed out on top of it to make sure that they would fit snugly together. Modge Podge was abundantly applied underneath the paper. The tricky part was getting the paper to fully stick on the canvas. I actually needed to make sure that I applied a generous layer of glue on top of the paper also.
The picture dried overnight and tonight I proceeded to add the finishing touches. The mouth and nostril area were outlined by hand-sewing black hemp twine on a line I had marked prior to gluing. The mane was outlined by hand-sewing fuzzy-type yarn around it. It kind of gives it that wild look.
The photo below I believe, shows the best of the colors. These photos were taken at night so my light is off and I haven't read my really big Photoshop book yet nor my camera book for that matter!
Note to self: GET ON IT!
A little added flair was the "name plate" at the bottom of the canvas.
Hopefully....the little pistol will enjoy it as much as I did making it for her. If not, I am changing the name plate and giving it to someone else! LOL!
That's SO cool! You can spell my name....NIKKI if she doesn't like it ;)
Really momma...that was an awesome feat! It turned out adorable...
and yes, I've modge podged on canvas before....you have MAD skills for it to turn out so good!
